A Brief History

The reason for the evolution of this chart came from the desire to present a document to each of our three children to mark the occasion of their 21st birthdays. From a very young age, I have always been interested in family history and genealogy and possess a passionate drive about recording everything and properly documenting photographs etc.

Those of you already involved in family history will appreciate how frustrating it is to devise some means whereby one can display all four sides of a marriage on one type of chart and furthermore, allow provision for the addition of future generations. Most Family Tree Charts available on the market only allow for two sides of a marriage to be recorded and actually finish with yourself - ie - the person for whom you are doing this chart. I wanted our children to be able to keep adding to their chart as they married and produced their own children - thereby creating a very precious family heirloom!

I wanted it to contain as much information about their parent's ancestors (on all four sides) as I was reasonably able to obtain. It had to be attractive but also had to be easy to understand - I didn't want something which would require a university degree to interpret. I really wanted to spark the flame of interest in my children and therefore, I had to create a real "talking point!" When I went shopping for such a document, I found that there wasn't one which fulfilled such a need.

Being of a creative nature, a "labour of love" took place over a period of twelve months until I arrived at my final blueprint. I hadn't ever considered putting it on the market until friends and colleagues saw my chart and asked to buy a copy. After receiving about 50 orders in a couple of weeks, I realised that there was a definite demand for this sort of product and from that, my small business was born.

I am a married mother of three grown up children and run my business from a home base. It has been phenomenally successful. I won a small business award in my early days of trading which set me on the road to fame! I have received many export orders and I mail-order my charts throughout the world on a daily basis. I also exhibit at craft shows around New Zealand when time allows and I enjoy that greatly as I am a "people person" and enjoy the personal contact.

I offer what I consider an exceptional service and have a ring binder full of letters from very satisfied customers. Where at all possible, I courier the day that the orders are received. If there is to be a delay for any reason, I always advise my clients of this.
